Thermodynamics’ vault concept combines elements of design, material and process developed from computer modeling and detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of structure and stress. After initial computer modeling proved the innovative convex concept, the detailed FEA validated that the linear medium density polyethylene would optimize both toughness and underground support as a buried vault, provide UV8 stability and UL-HB94 fire resistance rating.

The FEA in Model 1 of the TEVC vault shows a reflection of less than 0.25” (indicated by red) on the wall when buried and a linear hydrostatic force of .0.97 psi at the base to 0.32” at the top, equivalent to the forces of compacted soil. In fact the design and materials allow the vault to flex under load – not crack or break.

Flush Mount Lid

The flush mount lid is a one piece molded double wall design. A series of cones tie the two walls of the lid together to improve load strength. Corrosion resistant stainless steel captive penta head bolts safely secure the lid to the base. The same LLDPE material used in the vault base provides the impact resistance to support incidental construction equipment loads of up to 5000 lbs.

Lid and base securely protect underground electrical installations in any soil condition with optional double locking systems.
